Hi. Hola.
I invite you to discover the very personal,
the so-called abstract photography, or the simple lines transformed into thoughts.

Welcome to my world
About
I'm Carlos Caicedo
Paper and pencil have been my lifetime companions, not simply tools. In a digital age, these humble objects remain stubbornly useful, and our connection goes back to memory. It’s a physical relationship. A yellow pencil in a child’s fist moving on blue-lined paper. The weight of a book and the sound of a page as it turns, the curve it makes, and how its shadow moves. These are pleasures that haptics can’t mimic.
My photos are a journey of discovery with these old friends to see if we can still surprise each other. It’s looking at them with a new eye. It’s discovering how shape color and light can take us into a new and refreshing world. It’s a game where what we see comes from us, not what’s there. It’s a game of imagination. It’s an invitation to play and to see what you never imagined.

My Book
Paper and pencil have been lifetime companions for Carlos, not simply tools. In a digital age these humble objects remain stubbornly useful, and our connection
goes back before memory. It’s a physical relationship. A yellow pencil in a child’s fist moving on blue-lined paper. A word is being born, MOM. The weight of a book and the sound of a page as it turns, the curve it makes
and how its shadow moves. These are pleasures that haptics can’t mimic. This book is a journey of discovery with these old friends to see if we can still
surprise each other.
The first section unfolds the magic of paper. In its malleability and how it responds to light and color we imagine worlds in a material that is ultimately enigmatic. But the eye insists on finding purpose in form. You see a wing and then
a bird. You see flower petals and silent sea creatures where there is only paper.
The next section is a world of “possible impossibilities.” Here, pencils have intent, and the lines they draw create dimension and story before your eyes. At a stroke, a pencil can transform two dimensions into three. If there are stairs, there is an “up.” A pencil hides behind a line drawn by another pencil. Shadows follow pencils. Pencils follow lines. Lines follow pencils and shadows.
It is a game where what we see comes from us, not what’s there. It is a game of imagination. It’s an invitation to play, and to see what you never imagined.
